My policies have the underlying value of making our state and community economically viable and fair — to all residents of New Hampshire, and to be environmentally forward thinking so we leave behind a planet in which future generations will thrive.

ECONOMIC VIABILITY

The lack of affordable housing is an enormous challenge for New Hampshire. I believe in the importance of public and private partnerships creating incentives for the construction of housing for working class people, housing for people with physical or intellectual disabilities, for those struggling with or recovering from addiction, and for seniors who cannot afford corporate America’s assisted living facilities. I am in favor of reformed zoning laws to allow for more walk-able communities and increased density, so that our children and their children stay here, and don’t move away.

I serve on a special House Committee that studies the impact of the housing crisis on people with disabilities. I will work with my bipartisan colleagues to come up with effective solutions.

PROTECT OUR NATURAL RESOURCES

In my first term I served on the Resources, Recreation and Development Committee. If reelected, I will continue to work to protect our water and other natural resources, while supporting responsible development and recreation. Our committee passed important legislation related to PFAS contamination, and to address cyanobacteria outbreaks. We have more work to do in the coming session.

There is growing interest in NH and across the country to have more environmentally friendly practices in death care and final disposition. I will continue to work on legislation to allow for natural or green burials and Natural Organic Reduction. I am working with the Dover Cemetery board to adopt a green burial policy so the citizens of Dover may choose that option.

HEALTH CARE FOR ALL

I am a firm believer in universal health care and a single-payer health care system, and I have been for a long time. In the 2024 session I filed a House Resolution calling on our federal delegation to support a national, Universal Health Insurance Program (HR 23). This bill was defeated but I was proud of the support for the resolution and the many committed physicians and activists that testified in committee. You can watch my floor speech, here.

If reelected, I will continue to fight against the privatization of Medicare and Medicaid, and to ensure those programs are held to the standards set in the Affordable Care Act — including the protection against discrimination for preexisting conditions.

SAVE OUR DEMOCRACY

I stand with the Democratic Caucus in opposing any and all voter suppression efforts. Our country was founded on the right to free and fair elections, and any legislation suggesting the existence of widespread voter fraud only undermines the democratic process. I would support the expansion of independent, nonpartisan election observers, and the protection of poll workers from threats of political violence or intimidation.

The core threat to democracy today is the unlimited influence of money in our politics, driven by huge corporations. I would like to see real campaign finance reform at the state and national level.
